Corona Crates

In Germany, beer crates are returnable but made of plastic,

and producing new ones consumes millions of tons of fresh plastic annually.

As a net-zero plastic brand committed to protecting the ocean, Corona couldn’t enter

the mainstream crate market in one of the world’s top 5 beer-drinking countries.

This project created and launched the first beer crate made entirely from recycled ocean plastics,

utilising materials like discarded fishing nets, lines, and ropes that would otherwise

pollute the ocean as maritime waste.

To launch the innovative Corona Ocean Crates in stores across Germany,

the crates were showcased alongside real fishing nets, lines, and ropes,

emphasising to consumers the unique recycled materials used in their creation.

We also printed lids for the Corona crates featuring images of ocean plastics.

This gave consumers a feel-good sensation of cleaning the ocean of 2kg of plastics

each time they picked up a crate of Corona.
